A Children's Picture Book Dummy

This is a dummy of a children's picture book I wrote and illustrated; in other words a rough draft of my idea. I worked in several media to demontstrate various techniques I could use. I scanned the images and only cleaned them up a little.

Mommy, Mommy, Mommy I heard lucy yell from her crib this morning. (That's just about all she knows how to say.)

"Lucy, Lucy, Lucy!" Mommy shouted back but I know she can say more than just that.

At breakfast Lucy wouldn't eat her cereal so Mommy made me eat it and she wouldn't make me French toast because she said we would be late for nursery (pre) school.

When Mommy didn't come on time to pick me up from nursery (pre) school, I decided to walk home. When she found me she got mad. "It's too dangerous a road to walk on all by yourself!" she said. "You frightened me."

Then when we went shopping, Lucy cried the whole time (page 12)
so Mommy let her have a cracker but she wouldn't let me get the cereal I wanted (page 13)

Later when Mommy burned the cookies we were making she also burned her hand on the pan (14)
so she made me eat mine outside all by myself (15)

When I came back inside with mud on my hands, Mommy made me take a bath in the middle of the day! And, when Lucy made a mess in the tub, Mommy made me clean it up.

Afterward she let me watch T.V. until Lucy turned the volume all the way up.

Page 19
Then Mommy screamed, "turn it off!" and she made me show Lucy her books instead.

Then I drew a picture for Mommy to make her feel better. She said it was beautiful and hugged me (20)
but then she got angry again when she saw Lucy's drawing. (21)

When Mommy took the wash out of the machine this afternoon, she found her new sweater had shrunk, so she threw it out, but it might have fit me.

Page 23
Then the phone rang. Mommy tripped running up the stairs to answer it and I heard her say a naughty.

Page 24
"Okay dear, bye" was all she said on the phone and then she hung-up and cried. "Daddy won't be home until after dinner," she told me "but he will tuck you in."

We had to eat eggs again for dinner because Mommy forgot to thaw some meat. And she made me do the dishes.

Later she sat down with me to do some mending but she sent me to go brush my teeth. (28)
When I was in the bathroom she changed the T.V. channel from my show to some dumb educational show. (29)

I'm glad you're home now, Daddy. You're always nice. Mommy gets so crabby sometimes and you are the one who works all day.
Then Daddy told me, "Mommy works all day, too. She has to take care of me, you, Lucy, the house, the clothes, the food, school and herself. She works all day, at night and on weekends, too. She never gets time off from her work even when she doesn't feel well like today.
